4 year olds

During the ages of 4-5 years old, children are continuing to learn about themselves, and their feelings. They have a growing vocabulary, and are creative and imaginative. This causes them to ask more questions, and begin to think more logically. They are energetic, and often silly. Their learning styles are often more individualized by this time and we are dedicated to reaching each of them.

In the Owl classroom, they focus on one letter and word per week. Following the curriculum, the children will also work on:

  • Writing and recognition of capital and lower case letters

  • Shape, color, and number recognition

  • Spelling and writing names

  • Phonics

  • Sight Words

  • Patterns and sequencing

  • Problem solving

  • Development of fine motor skills through the use of scissors and other activities

The 4 year olds meet three days a week from 9am-1pm, with an optional fourth or fifth day.
